How Good Is Daiwa Gear

Postby Gravy » Sun Feb 14, 2016 6:30 pm

Daiwa are my go to choice for my baitcaster reels, I bought a Pixy when they were first released at a price that I wont disclose, it is still going strong with a minimum of replaced components. The arsenal grew with another Pixy bought out of Japan, a T3 bought new and recently a used Steez that had hardly seen water.

The new Steez has a hefty price tag however there is no doubt it has a higher level of finesse over its cheaper cousins.

One day I will expound on my rods of choice.

Most of my current "in rotation" reels are Daiwa as well.
TD SOL and Luvias spin reels and a Tatula baitcaster.
I do have an abu baitcaster and a little okuma spin reel which is smaller than anything else I could find years ago that I still use quite a bit.
I'm not overly brand loyal - I have a couple of sturdy Shimano spin reels for bait fishing. But it's been almost no contest for me choosing Daiwa reels for many years now.
My rods are a complete mish mash though. Next to no loyalty there.
